Program Requirements
Internships are open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors who are pursuing degrees in road construction related fields such as Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering Technology, Occupational Health, Safety & Environment, and Construction Management. To apply, you must currently be enrolled in one of these degree programs at an accredited college or university.

Successful applicants will be required to take on the day-to-day challenges of a Field or Safety Engineer in the road construction industry. They will work for part of the summer doing office-based work and part of the summer doing in-the-field work. They will also be required to attend bi-monthly meetings with the program coordinator and their peers to discuss work and learning experiences. A group Powerpoint presentation is required at the end of the program to be presented to a cross-section of Barriere supervisors and company leaders highlighting work and learning experiences and providing feedback to further enhance the Barriere Internship program.
